Want a Turn?

In August, Gray and I along with my parents rendezvoused in Denver with Shawn, Carrie, and their kiddos for a few days. On my list of things to do was the Butterfly Pavilion because I was sure that Gray was going to love seeing all the butterflies flying openly around him. Just when you think you know your kid, he proves you wrong. His favorite part was the exhibit with all the really large creepy and crawly things on the earth. You know - scorpions, centipedes, cockroaches, and of course spiders. He could not wait to get his chance to hold 'Rosie'. I guess he is all boy.

& Tatum

Tatum didn't let the boys show her up and held the Tarantula as well, but I didn't manage to get a shot of it. Although I did get this one of her playing in the 'honeycomb'. Isn't she beautiful?! And yes, that is my child's feet hanging down by her head - at least they aren't a strangers.

Checking In

For the few of you that check this site often and were beginning to wonder if I had given up on my attempt at blogging, may I kindly remind you that when I started this adventure I never promised how often it would be updated. That being said, I do feel a nagging sense of obligation to post an update... not tonight though. Tonight is just to let you know that I have not abandoned my blog; along with a promise for a more in depth post soon. Oh, and a picture of my bug and me for your viewing pleasure!

Revelation

In my opinion, if you are going to have angel food cake, it cannot be store bought. I am not in any way saying that it has to be made from scratch - although if anyone has a recipe that is from scratch I would love to try it - but the store bought stuff just does not compare to what you get with a little help from Betty Crocker. The only problem I have encountered is that while baking you get a bit of overflow from your pan onto the bottom of your oven. Then it starts to burn, stink up your house, and create a lovely mess that no one has extra time to clean up. That is until now. This time when I was reading directions I noticed some really tiny print that gave some added directions for high altitude baking. I tried it, and guess what? No more overflow! Although the cake was not quite as fluffy either, so if I am honest, I may continue to ignore the tiny print and add to the burnt on mess that is waiting for me on the bottom of my oven.

Puppy Love

Gray has always been a big fan of Dash. I will not say that Dash is as enthusiastic about the relationship, but he 'plays' along when being chased by the vacuum attachment, pulled around by his leash, and getting sprayed down with water from the hose better than I had ever hoped he would; although when he has had enough he can be found lying just out of reach under my bed. That being said, there are moments like these when words are not enough to describe how it makes me feel to see the bond that these two have with each other. Maybe a little like watching the bond between siblings too.

Celebrating

I hope all of you enjoyed your holiday weekend as much as Dash did!
I love you stars and stripes!

High-Flying

There is something so magical about a child, a swing, and a hot summer day...
